Doris Kliehm geb. Haaf

I met our beloved Doris when I was only a little boy. Doris and my Mother Mrs.Seblewongel Belachew were longtime close friends: a friendship that went on for over 35 years. Doris frequently visited Ethiopia for her humanitarian work and my Mom served with her as her most trusted partner coordinating and facilitating her wonderful mission along with Mr.Abebe. Even in recent years when Doris fell ill and was unable to visit Ethiopia, she still continued helping many families in Ethiopia through my Mom.

‎‎I have a fond memory of Doris from my childhood as she brought me many toys from Germany whenever she visited. The Lufthansa planes, Tennis balls, Police cars, Trucks... she was my real-life Santa Clause, only without the beard of course. ‎And I still have every toys she brought for me and keep them dearly. I remember vividly how kindly she spoke to me and how warmly she hugged me.

Fast-forward nearly 27 years and here I am serving my community as a medical doctor. And Doris is one of the biggest influence and prominent figure in my life that aspired me to help those in need. Each time I go for a voluntary medical outreach missions I keep her in my heart. I believe if she was still here with us she would have been proud of what I have become. The seed she sow in me grew up and became fruitful.
‎‎We stand here today not to mourn the death of this wonderful human; rather we celebrate the full life she lived, the thousands of people whose lives she touched and the astonishing legacy she left behind. She truly lived a life worth living. And for everyone who wishes to honor her, please do so by carrying her astonishing mission in helping the many who are in need, spreading love and kindness to everyone around you.
‎May God rest her soul in paradise and for all her family and friends, do not weep. For our beloved Doris is in a better place. I thank God for everything that he has done in Doris' life.
